The iconic distinguishing feature: a special hand weaving technique as an extraordinary decorative edge. This creates an individual aesthetic in our models MATHILDE, OLIVIA and CORA.

  • Leather Inspection


    The process begins with the selection of the best materials. The leather is carefully inspected to ensure that it is of the highest quality and meets the requirements for processing into a handbag. After the pattern is created, it is transferred to the leather with the help of the so-called awl and all the individual parts are cut. This is done not only manually, but also with the help of punching tools. In this step is particularly space-saving to generate as little waste as possible.

  • Cutting


    Different tools are used for cutting, such as the half-moon knife and special scissors. It is important that the leather is cut evenly so that it can be processed in the next steps without any problems.

  • Sharpening


    The process continues with the sharpening of the leather, which is thereby thinned out. Various tools are used here, such as a special leather sharpening machine with bell knives and manual sharpening knives. The thickness of the leather is then determined with a standardized measuring device and, if necessary, adjusted again so that the material thickness is suitable and uniform for processing.

  • Dyeing the Leather Edges


    The leather edges are then dyed for an attractive and professional finish and to protect the surface of the leather from wear and damage. The color is specially mixed in the same tone of the leather and is composed of acrylic pigments. In the next step, it is applied partly by hand, especially in narrow and difficult places, and also by machine in straight long places on all leather edges up to three times.

  • Weaving & Sewing


    The special distinguishing feature of our ICONIC line is the selvedge. It is created by a hand weaving technique and provides our MATHILDE, OLIVIA or CORA for the individual aesthetics of the bag.

    The next step is to sew the first individual parts of the cut. With precision and a lot of patience, the handles are sewn on and the woven appliqué is joined to the body of the bag. The ROECKL fine-stitchers work very precisely with the single-needle lockstitch sewing machine, which is especially suitable for leather processing and thus guarantees the longevity of the seams.

  • Refinement & Finalization


    Once the individual parts of the bag are sewn, they are further refined. For example, for the bottom rivets, the holes are punched first and then the rivets are attached. Zippers, the ROECKL logo and other details are also added to make the bag functional and aesthetically pleasing.

    Finally, the bag is sewn together, cleaned, and finished into a flawless one-of-a-kind piece. In this step, the lining is also sewn in with the ROECKL repeat, including all inner pockets. In the product control all seams, the zippers and the lining are checked before the bag leaves the manufactory.
